MOUNTAIN PEAK TOURS

DESCRIPTION:

 

This day trip is rated medium making it challenging enough to put a smile on your face without being competition truck standard!.  It combines some more challenging tracks but also is the perfect starting point for you to learn how your four wheel drive works as you test both yourself and the four wheel drive.  

 

Staring at Mansfield we head into the Howqua Hills Historic Area and visit Frys Hut.  Once we have explored Frys Hut we head to Bluff Hut  then onto Bindaree hut situated along the Howqua River.  We then visit Bindaree Falls which is a short and steep 200 metre  walk to a beautiful waterfall which can be stood under (not getting wet, except for over spray!). After stretching the legs we head over to Craigs hut where you can  admire the panoramic views and take in the surrounding mountain ranges while enjoying a BBQ lunch.  After lunch we head back to Mansfield where our trip concludes.

VEHICLE REQUIREMENTS:

Suitable for four wheel drives with high and low range.  Your four wheel drive should have recovery points both front and back.

TRIP STANDARD:

Medium:

Mainly Hi Range Four Wheel Drive but Low Range required. Tracks with some steep and/or rocky/slippery/sandy sections. May have shallow water crossings.  Will be more difficult in wet conditions

SUGGESTED SPARES:

A handheld or vehicle mounted UHF radio (you may be able to hire one from us depending on availability).  A rated snatch strap and shackles suitable for your vehicle.

DON'T FORGET:

Your Camera!.  Bring sturdy footwear and be prepared for all weather conditions.

Watch 'The Man from Snowy River' before your tour, to really bring home the atmosphere of the area.  Ask us about a Sunset Tour, which will see a BBQ dinner followed by sitting under the elm trees watching the sun set in the distance.
