MOUNTAIN PEAK TOURS

DESCRIPTION:

In 1917 John Bamford and James Barclay were found murdered in the Howitt High Plains.  The murderer was never found and to this day the Wonnangatta Murder Myster remains unsolved.

The Wonnangatta Valley and Station is set in a beautiful valley that takes your breath away.  You can explore the remains of the Station house, the family cemetery and there is also remains of the blacksmiths shop.

 

After visiting the Wonnangatta valley, we head out via Zeka Spur and as we make our way back to Mansfield we visit some bush huts and if the weather is nice get our bathers on and explore Tunnel Bend which is a river based cave (waist deep and suitable for all ages)

VEHICLE REQUIREMENTS:

Suitable for four wheel drives with high and low range.  Your four wheel drive should have recovery points both front and back.

TRIP STANDARD:

Difficult.

Significant Low Range Four Wheel Drive on tracks with frequent steep and/or rocky/slippery/sandy sections.  Possible water crossings.  Suitable for medium to high clearance vehicles with dual range and all terrain tyres.

SUGGESTED SPARES:

A handheld or vehicle mounted UHF radio (you may be able to hire one from us depending on availability).  A rated snatch strap and shackles suitable for your vehicle.

DON'T FORGET:

Your Camera!.  Bring sturdy footwear and be prepared for all weather conditions.

 

OUR TIPS:

When Available, we will have a tour of the Wonnangatta Valley provided by the Friends of Wonnangatta group who volunteer their time to keep the valley and it's history accessible to everyone.  A donation is made on the tour groups behalf (included as part of your tour cost) when they are available to provide the tour.
